Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi is pleasantly surprised to see the change in Mason Greenwood as the former Manchester United star returned for pre-season as an improved player. Greenwood is on fire after his holidays as he has already scored four goals in two friendly matches, including a hat-trick against Dutch side Excelsior Maassluis.

WHAT HAPPENED?
Greenwood had a dream debut campaign in France last season after permanently leaving United. He scored 22 goals across all competitions for Marseille and narrowly missed out on the Ligue 1 Golden Boot to Ousmane Dembele.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Now the forward has returned to France and is looking forward to picking up from right where he left off in the 2024-25 campaign. Marseille boss De Zerbi is happy to see an improved version of the 23-year-old, as the Italian coach hailed Greenwood's efforts to remain in good shape during the off-season.

When asked if he was surprised by Greenwood's sharpness, De Zerbi replied: "He looked very good when he resumed training. He's a different Mason. He's building on what he achieved last season. He worked hard during the holidays. When he runs like this, he's better than the others."
